Express surveyed 10,181 current and former clients across the company’s more than 550 locations in the United States and Canada. Thirty-four percent of respondents plan to hire full-time commercial and light industrial positions in the third quarter, while 28% plan to hire for administrative and office clerical positions. Since January, new hires are up 56.4 percent for the local Express office compared to 2008 numbers.
According to the hiring trends survey, these two types of positions have been in strong demand during 2010. Since January, 37% of survey respondents filled administrative and office clerical positions and 32% filled commercial and light industrial positions.
The Express hiring trends survey, which yielded a 9.19% completion rate, also looked at what is most important for new hires. Topping the list is credible work history, followed by job experience and specific skills.
“To ensure that an applicant’s work history is credible and accurate, we conduct thorough background checks and reference checks on all of our applicants,” said Jeff McKeown, owner of Express Employment Professionals.
The hiring trends survey is being validated in the Racine and Kenosha county areas where hiring by local companies is up significantly specifically in the industrial and machining areas and all indications are that the increased hiring will continue into third quarter.
